Mike Trout’s ninth inning home run was too little too late as the Los Angeles Angels lost 2-1 to the Houston Astros Thursday night. The loss was the team’s sixth defeat on a seven-game road trip and their eight loss in 10 games.

Matt Shoemaker gave the Angels another strong starting pitching performance, working seven innings and giving up just three hits and two runs – both on homers.

The Angels had six hits but couldn’t string them together and were shut out until Trout’s fourth home run of the season.

Next up for the Halos (7-10, tied for third in the AL West) will be a return to Anaheim to begin a series with the Toronto Blue Jays (3-12). Making the start for the home team will be Alex Meyer.

HBHS (18-3) took a seven-run lead into the seventh and withstood a five-run rally by the Sharks to advance to the championship game.
