A 46-year-old man died after being pulled from the water near 19th Street in Sunset Beach Friday afternoon. According to the Orange County Sheriff Coroner’s office, the man was identified as Eric Reno, a resident of Sunset Beach.

He was rescued at 1:01 p.m., reported Huntington Beach city lifeguards, and taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach, where he was declared dead at 1:48 p.m.

Sunset Beach, established in 1905, became part of Huntington Beach in 2011.
