The gusty winds that the old saying promised for March have arrived this weekend in late April. The Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster- area has been buffeted by strong breezes knocking over trees, sending dirt into swimming pools and scattering your patio furniture.
As of Saturday morning, Southern California Edison was reporting just one power outage in the area, in northeast Garden Grove. Forty-six customers have been without electricity since just before 5 a.m. Repairs are expected to be completed by 3 p.m.
The winds are going to continue today (Saturday) and on into Sunday. The National Weather Service is predicting winds of 31 miles per hour today in Huntington Beach, 30 in Westminster and 26 in Garden Grove.
On Sunday, those gusts are expected to drop to 15 in Huntington Beach, 14 in Westminster and 12 in Garden Grove. Temperatures with be in the high seventies to mid-eighties, but hot Santa Ana-type winds will make the air feel up to five degrees warmer.
