In commemoration of this Thursday’s 30th annual Garden Grove “Call to Duty” Police Memorial, a special, 19-minute documentary film on Garden Grove’s Fallen Five police officers, will have a first public viewing at the event. The 30thAnnual Memorial takes place on Thursday, May 18, at 5 p.m., in front of Garden Grove Police Headquarters, at 11301 Acacia Parkway.
The video, entitled, “Fathers, Husbands, Brothers, Friends,” and produced by the City’s award-winning GGTV3 Cable team, takes a personal look at each officer through candid and telling interviews. Several former, now-retired police colleagues, and immediate family members, share insight into lesser-known aspects of each fallen officer.
For three decades, the public ceremony has honored the ultimate sacrifices of Sergeant Myron L. Trapp, Officer Andy Reese, Officer Donald F. Reed, Officer Michael Rainford, and Master Officer Howard Dallies, Jr.
This year, the program will feature guest speakers, Whittier Police Chief Jeff Piper, and David Kling, a retired police officer and father of murdered Palm Springs Police Officer Lesley Zerebny. The program will also include a helicopter fly-over. For more information, contact the Garden Grove Police Department at (714) 741-5901.
