Two arrested for strong-arm robberies

TWO JUVENILES have been arrested in Garden Grove for allegedly robbing a victim of a necklace Thursday afternoon.

A string of 18 strong-arm robberies by youths grabbing jewelry from their victims may have been snapped by the arrests of two suspects Thursday afternoon in Garden Grove.

According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, two male juveniles were arrested at 1:57 p.m. after allegedly committing another robbery at a shopping center at 9920 Westminster Ave. Shortly after a necklace was snatched from a victim, two suspects was arrested while allegedly fleeing on foot.

Police say the suspects match the description of those involved in several robberies in the Garden Grove-Westminster area, where necklaces and jewelry have been snatched from victims in shopping center parking lots. An estimated 18 such strong-arm robberies have been reported in the area.

The juveniles were booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall for robbery. The investigation is continuing.
