Panthers are number 1 in CIF grid poll

ORANGE HIGH is ranked number one in Division 13 of this week’s CIF-SS football poll.

Five teams from the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area are ranked in this week’s CIF-SS football polls, including one team at the top.

Orange High (1-0) is ranked atop Division 13. The Panthers defeated Anaheim 54-7 in their opener last Thursday.

Here are the local teams ranked this week:

  • Division 2: Edison (1-1) is fourth. Valencia High of Valencia is first.
  • Division 10: Pacifica (2-0) is second. Apple Valley is first.
  • Division 11: Westminster (1-0) is second. Culver City is first.
  • Division 12: Marina (2-0) is sixth. Rancho Christian is first
  • Division 13: Orange is first; La Quinta (1-0) is fifth; Ocean View (1-0) is ninth.

The only game this week matching local CIF-ranked teams will be Friday’s contest at Bill Boswell Field on the Westminster High School field with Marina playing Westminster.

Other games of note will include Woodbridge (0-2) of Irvine on Friday at Garden Grove (1-1) in clash which with feature the dedication of the new Michael Monsoor Stadium, and Edison at Canyon (1-1). The Comanches defeated Huntington Beach 30-27 in the season opener for both teams.
