Angels suffer fifth straight loss

Traditionally, the Los Angeles Angels start off strong and fade in June or July. This year, the Halos are determined to fast-track their slump.

Against the Baltimore Orioles in Anaheim, the Orange County team lost 4-2 for their fifth consecutive defeat, falling to 9-14, good for third place in the American League West.

Trailing 4-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, the Halos finally got on to the board on Jo Adell’s solo home run and a single by Logan O’Hoppe. Again, Angel pitching wasn’t bad, at least not early. Reid Detmers (3-1) worked seven innings, innings yielding six runs and four hits and four earned runs – including two homers.

The next game will be Tuesday again against the Orioles. Griffin Canning (0-3) will makes the start for the Angels.

ALSO, the Los Angeles Kings lost their NHL Western Conference playoff game 7-4 to the Edmonton Oilers.
