Garden Grove High’s football team moved into sole possession of first place in the Garden Grove League football race Friday with its 47-0 win over Santiago. Combined with La Quinta’s 40-14 victory over Rancho Alamitos, the Argonauts (4-3 overall) are the only team in the GGL with a 3-0 record.
Should Grove win its next two games, it will mean a sixth straight GGL title for the Argos, who move into the Golden West League for 2018.
Also on Monday, Westminster moved into a three-way tie for second place in the GWL with its 27-20 win over Ocean View. The Lions (6-2 overall, 2-1 in league) are tied with Segerstrom (6-2, 2-1) and Orange (7-1, 2-1) for second. They all trail Santa Ana (3-0, 7-1).
