Woman accused of lying in sex abuse case

A 50-YEAR-OLD Huntington Beach woman is facing felony charges in connection with the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl.

A 50-year-old Huntington Beach woman is facing felony charges in connection with the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl.

According to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, Cynthia Marie Dunaway-Erickson was arrested on Nov. 2 on charges of perjury under oath and accessory after the fact. She faces a maximum sentence of five years and four months in state prison.

She will be arraigned for allegedly lying under oath to protect her boyfriend who is accused of sexual abuse and rape of the girl, who was under her care.

Jeffrey Scott Jones was convicted on Oct. 19, 2016 on three felony counts of sex abuse of a minor. He was sentenced to 46 years to life in state prison on March 17, 2017.

Dunaway-Erickson is accused of providing false information while under oath and making a false claim of jury tampering . The case was investigated by the Huntington Beach Department and the DA’s office.
