Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ….
But in Garden Grove?
Yes, as part of the annual 11th Christmas Tree Lighting Event Tuesday night at the Village Green Park, the crowd of about a thousand got a dusting of the white stuff, sprayed at the conclusion of the hour-long event.
Featured were dancers, singers and the ceremonial illumination of the tree next to the clock tower at Main and Euclid Streets.
Former Miss Garden Grove and Miss California Leah Cecil served as mistress of ceremonies, and Mayor Steve Jones addressed the crowd.
Entertainment was provided by a choir from St. Columban School, The Learning Spot Dance Academy, the Christ Cathedral Academy Advance Choir, Dannsair Dance Academy, Mya Shimuzu (the 2017 “Voice of Garden Grove” runner-up), Foundations Dance Company and the Santiago High School Vocal Ensemble.
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at the park on a fire truck and were greeted with cheers and a long, long line of parents and children.
Food was provided by the 7-Eleven store at 12971 Nelson St., the Kiwanis Club of Greater Garden Grove, Boy Scout Troop 270 (“Chilly Dogs”) and Fundacion Jalisco USA (tamales).
