It was one of those glass half-full nights for the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. They lost 2-1 in overtime to the Ottawa Senators, snapping their three-game winning streak.
On the other hand, they did pick up a point, and remained in a tie with the San Jose Sharks for second place in the NHL Pacific Division. The top three teams in each division go to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Ducks (25-17-10, 60 points) got their lone score from Ryan Kesler. Anaheim is next in action on Saturday, visiting Montreal (20-25-6).
Chargers and Oilers still tied
Edison and Huntington Beach continued to roll along in their tie for second place in the Sunset League girls’ basketball race with wins on Thursday night.
The Chargers (6-2 in league and 13-10 overall) bested Newport Harbor 58-26 and the Oilers (6-2, 16-8) defeated Fountain Valley 61-22. Los Alamitos (8-0, 19-5) continued atop the league with a 69-13 triumph over Marina.
Ashley Niemand was the top scorer on the night with 25 points. She also grabbed 16 rebounds.
