Westminster could soon be taking a major step into the tourism business, as the city planning commission on Wednesday considers a proposal to construct a mixed-use project at the southeast corner of Bolsa Avenue and Brookhurst Street in the Little Saigon district.
The applicant, IP Westminster LLC, is proposing to build a 144-room hotel, a 48,000-square foot banquet facility, 37,550-square feet of retail space and 201 housing units on a six-acre site.
A principal feature of the development will be a Festival Street with street furniture, landscaping and architectural features intended to be reminiscent of “old Saigon,” now officially known as Ho Chi Minh City in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The planners will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers, 8200 Westminster Blvd.
