As far as sports teams representing schools in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster go, spring is definitely the season to shine.
In polls released by the CIF-SS on Monday, 10 local teams were ranked, including two rated number one in the division. Five locals were named to top 10s in baseball, two in softball and three in boys’ volleyball.
BASEBALL
Division 1: Huntington Beach (16-3 overall) is ranked first here. The Oilers are also rated second in California and third in the nation by maxpreps.com.
Division 3: Pacifica (10-7) is 10th.
Division 4: La Quinta (10-6) is eighth.
Division 5: Rancho Alamitos (11-3) is fifth.
Division 7: Bolsa Grande (7-4) is fourth.
SOFTBALL
Division 2: Edison (9-5) is ninth.
Division 7: Westminster (8-3) is sixth.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Division 1: Huntington Beach (17-4) is fifth
Division 4: Rancho Alamitos (12-2) is fourth.
Division 5: Garden Grove (9-6) is first.
