PACIFICA, Rancho Alamitos and Huntington Beach posted important baseball wins on Friday.

Pacifica High’s baseball team kept pace with Cypress in the race for the Empire League title Friday with its 2-0 win over Tustin. Both the Mariners and Centurions are 6-0 in league and will settle the matter – probably – when they meet on May 8 and 10.

In the Garden Grove League, Rancho Alamitos took a long stride toward the crown with a 4-2 win over La Quinta. The Vaqueros are 10-1 in the GGL, while the Aztecs are two games back at 8-3 with four games left to play.

Huntington Beach got some payback for Wednesday’s 20-4 loss to Fountain Valley with a 6-2 win over the Barons. The Oilers are 9-1 in the Sunset League and will take on second place Los Alamitos (8-3) on May 4.
