Josh Miranda’s grand slam was the key to Pacifica’s 8-3 win over Cypress on Thursday, propelling the Mariners into a tie for the Empire League baseball title.
Both the M’s and Centurions finished with 9-1 league records and will open CIF-SS play next week with home games.
Playoff pairings will be announced this weekend.
Miranda ended up with two hits and five RBIs, Jovanny Reyes worked seven innings on the mound for Pacifica, giving up six hits and one earned run while striking out three.
