A small dog lost its life in a house fire Sunday morning in Stanton.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the blaze was reported at 9:16 a.m. at a home in the 8000 block of Kennelly. About 30 firefighters from the OCFA and Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded and had the fire knocked down by 9:52 a.m.
The estimated cost of the damage was put at $400,000 to the structure and $150,000 to contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
After the fire, the body of the dog was found in the building. No people were home at the time of the incident, but two residents were assisted with housing by the American Red Cross.
