The suspect in an armed robbery at the city’s northern edge was later arrested in a separate incident in Garden Grove’s major commercial district.
According to the GGPD, just before midnight on Wednesday, police received a report of a robbery at the K&M Liquor, 9510 Katella Ave. A man had entered the store, removed a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband and demanded money from the clerk.
Five hundred dollars in cash was handed over and the suspect fled on foot headed in a southbound direction.
However, at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday – just a little over an hour later – police responded to a report of a man “brandishing a handgun” in the area of Brookhurst Street and Chapman Avenue. He was located and matched the description of the suspect from the earlier robbery.
The man was in possession of a loaded firearm and was positively identified, according to police. He was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail for armed robbery.
