The Los Angeles Angels continue to feast on the lesser teams in major league baseball, defeating the San Diego Padres 7-3 down south on Tuesday.
Led by Justin Upton’s three hits – including a two-run homer – the Halos improved to 61-60 while the home team fell to 48-74. The Angels are fourth in the American League West; the Padres are fifth and last in the National League West.
Also leading the hit parade for the Angels was Eric Young, Jr., with two RBIs, and a debut performance by Taylor Ward, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Jaime Barria (8-7) got the win, working five innings while giving up six hits and one run. Five relievers yielded four more hits and two runs.
Felix Pena (1-2) will start for the Halos on Wednesday, while the Padres will start Robbie Erlin (2-3).
ALSO, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost 2-1 to the San Francisco Padres, putting them in third place in the NL West, two games out of the lead.
