Two persons were arrested Monday afternoon for residential burglary in Garden Grove.
According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, arrested were:
- Sergio Alexander Donan, 26, of Tustin;
- Carlos Daniel Lopez-Gamez, 22, of Anaheim.
Police were dispatched to a home in the 12600 block of Jetty Street in east Garden Grove regarding a report of a burglary in progress. A 46-year-old homeowner told police that two men had broken into his home from the rear.
The homeowner was able to escape out the front door and call police, who arrived within three minutes. A perimeter was set up and a police helicopter and K-9 unit from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department were also summoned.
According to Lt. Whitney, the suspects sought to flee the house. Officers on the perimeter arrested one and the second was stopped by a police dog that found him hidden in some shrubbery in a nearby backyard.
The second suspect had been bit in the leg and was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to a local hospital for medical clearance. Both suspects were booked into Orange County Jail for residential burglary. Lopez-Gamez also had an outstanding warrant for domestic violence.
Following up to determine if the suspects are responsible for other such burglaries, police are asking anyone with information about this or other residential break-ins to call the GGPD at (714) 5872.
