Renovation and replacement of the stadium at Bolsa Grande High School was cleared for kickoff Tuesday night by the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education.

The board voted 5-0 to approve a contract worth $11,011,369 to G.B. Construction to remove and rebuild the facility on the BGHS campus, a stadium that dates back over half a century.

Once the Showcase of the Bands event is concluded later this month, the work should commence. The final product for the 5,000-seat stadium is expected to be ready for the start of the football season in the late summer of 2019.

The complex will include new seating, lighting, drainage, field, track, scoreboard fencing and ADA access for the disabled. It will be similar to Monsoor Stadium at Garden Grove High, which opened in 2017.

Bolsa’s stadium is the home football field for Bolsa Grande, La Quinta, Pacifica and Rancho Alamitos high schools.

The GGUSD serves most of Garden Grove as well as portions of Anaheim, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
