Two suspects were arrested this week by Garden Grove police in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old man earlier this year.
According to Sgt. Ray Bex of the GGPD, Steven Kue, 31, of Garden Grove and Anthony Loc Nguyen, 23, of Garden Grove were arrested in the death of John Robert Connell, 33, late of Orange.
The case began in the early hours of Sept. 5 when the Westminster Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority responded to a vehicle fire in the 6400 block of Industry Way in Westminster. After the fire was extinguished, a man’s body was found in the car, a man believed to be the victim of a homicide.
On Sept. 8, WPD detectives determined that Connell had been killed at a home in the 11600 block of Brookhurst Street in Garden Grove in late August. The investigation was then turned over to the GGPD.
Over the course of a four-month inquiry, detectives determined that Kue was the suspect, who was believed to be living in the Fresno area. He was arrested for Connell’s murder on Wednesday there and Nguyen was arrested in Westminster on charges of being an accessory to murder after the fact and arson.
Both were booked into Orange County Jail.
Anyone with additional information is asked to call GGPD homicide detectives at (714) 741-5422.
