A fire Sunday morning did an estimated $500,000 in damage to a home in Garden Grove and displaced 11 people.
According to Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the GGFD, the blaze was reported at 7:20 a.m. in the 11500 block of Vicilia Street in a single-story house.
It took 30 firefighters over a half-hour to get the fire under control.
A person living in the house awoke to the smell of smoke and he “founds signs of a fire when he went to investigate,” said Capt. Nguyen. Eight adults and three minors escaped the building with one minor being treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $400,000 and $100,000 to contents. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and assistance was provided by Anaheim Fire and Rescue and the Orange County Fire Authority.
