A PEDESTRIAN was fatally struck by an automobile Tuesday afternoon in Stanton.

A man walking at the intersection of Magnolia Street and Cerritos Avenue in Stanton was fatally struck by an automobile Tuesday at around 5:30 p.m.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and published reports, the man – as yet unidentified – was struck by a vehicle driven by Amgad Anwar, 18. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The pedestrian was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was pronounced dead.

Cerritos between Magnolia and Gilbert Street was closed for three hours.
