Duck! Look out as team loses 12th straight

A third period surge by the Detroit Red Wings sent the Anaheim Ducks down to their 12th straight defeat Tuesday night.

The Ducks (19-19-9) had a 1-0 lead in the second period when Rickard Rakell scored at the 19:03 mark, but the Red Wings took over in the third with three goals.

With 12 losses in a row – continuing the team’s longest losing streak – the Ducks are within two defeats of tying the NHL record of 14 set by the Buffalo Sabres in 2014-15.

The loss dropped them into a three-way tie for third in the NHL Pacific Division with Edmonton and Vancouver, all with 47 points.

Next up for Anaheim is a game Wednesday at the Minnesota Wild.
