Andie Payne dominated inside for Huntington Beach High’s girls’ basketball team Saturday night as the Oilers defeated Crescenta Valley 35-34 in a Division 2-AA second round contest.
She had nine points, 16 rebounds and three blocked shots as the orange-and-black (23-6) advanced to the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Huntington is the sole local survivor of the girls’ CIF-SS basketball playoffs, as Santiago and Orangewood Academy lost.
In other winter sports playoffs, all local girls’ water polo teams and girls’ soccer teams are out. In boys’ soccer, Edison remains the sole participant from schools serving Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.
