Local TV operation wins two awards

The Public Cable Television Authority – which provides local access programming for Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster – was recently honored with two awards at the Alliance for Community Media Western Region’s annual conference.

PCTA’s winning entries were “Two Angels Meet” in the culture and lifestyle category, and “Julen’s Ausome Sauce in the underserved category.

“Angels” detailed the special friendship between Fountain Valley resident Susan Saurastri and a local senior citizen, Angele Fairchild. “Sauce” highlighted a Huntington Beach teen with autism who has succeeded at marketing his own line of cooking sauces.

“Angels” was produced by Jacqueline Toueg of Huntington Beach and “Sauce” by C. Sue Braun of Westminster. Fountain Valley resident and PCTA general manager served as co-executive producer for both winning entries.

GG Republican Women to meet

The Garden Grove Republican Women Federated will meet on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. at the Goldenwest Diner in Westminster.

Heather Allen of the California Rifle and Pistol Association will be speaking on women and firearms, Second Amendment rights and California gun laws. All Republican and conservative women from Garden Grove and surrounding cities area welcome to attend.

College grads sought for honors

Garden Grove residents who are graduating this years with an undergraduate or post-graduate academic degree from any college or university are being sought for the seventh annual Graduates Reception on Tuesday, May 14 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Hosted by Mayor Steve Jones and the Garden Grove City Council, the free event recognized local college grads for their achievement in higher education. The reception includes an awards ceremony, catered dinner, giveaways, prizes and the chance to network with key businesses and organizations in the community.

Graduates who submit their information to www.ggcity.org/grads  by  May 9 will be invited to the event.
