A transient from Anaheim has been arrested in connection with at least seven commercial burglary incidents in the Garden Grove area.
According to Sgt. Luis Payan of the GGPD, Marwan Maher Alrabayah, 32, was arrested Thursday, Mary 9, and booked in Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.
Police officers responded at 3:22 a.m. to an audible alarm at a banquet hall in the 9800 block of Katella Avenue. While en route the dispatcher was able to contact the owner of the business at his home, where he was able to remotely access the live security cameras at his closed business.
The owner told police he saw someone hiding in the dumpster as officers were arriving on the scene. They located the suspect and made the arrest, finding him with burglary tools including a hammer and pry bar that police believe he used to break into the business.
Detectives were able to link Alrabayah to six other burglary cases that had occurred nearby on May 8 and are following up on other similar incidents.
Anyone with information about these crimes or the suspect is asked to call (714) 741-5827.
