A wave of break-ins at pharmacies in Garden Grove and across Orange County is drawing the attention of area law enforcement agencies.

Three such incidents took place in Garden Grove in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday, according to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD.  They were all on Westminster Avenue between 4:14 a.m. and 4:45 a.m.

The break-ins were at:

  • Hong Pharmacy, 8883 Westminster Ave.
  • Ana Pharmacy, 10191 Westminster Ave.
  • Cali Care Pharmacy, 10278 Westminster Ave.

The front doors to the businesses were pried open by a male suspect using a yellow crow bar. Security gates at two of the locations kept the suspect from getting into the store.

At the one location where complete entry was made, prescription medications that included cough syrup with codeine were taken. Surveillance videos indicate that the same suspect or suspects were responsible for the burglaries.

Pharmacies across Orange and Los Angeles counties have been targeted recently, according to Lt. Whitney. Anyone with information about the identities of the suspect or suspects is asked to call the GGPD at (714) 741-5704.
