
THE ANNUAL Cub Scout Pushcart Derby down “Springdale Hill” in West Garden Grove is coming on June 1 (File photo).
On Saturday, June 1, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Springdale Street, between the Garden Grove Freeway and Lampson Avenue, will be closed for the 17th annual Cub Scout Pushcart Derby. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly to avoid delays.
Residents and businesses in the area have been notified in advance. Orange County Transit Authority bus routes will be impacted by the street closure. The Garden Grove Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be on site during closure times to direct traffic and suggest alternate routes.
The 17th annual Cub Scout Pushcart Derby will take place at 12700 Springdale St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Approximately 100 Cub Scouts, between the ages of 6-11, will race hand-made pushcarts down Springdale’s sloping street. The event is hosted by the West Garden Grove Cub Scout Pack 271, and sponsored by the City of Garden Grove and BSA El Captain District.
