Sho’s homer wasn’t enough in 4-2 loss

SHOHEI OHTANI homered in the Angels’ 4-2 loss to the Athletics on Tuesday (Angels photo).

After a recent hot streak, the Los Angeles Angels are on another seemingly mandatory skid just as they approached reaching .500. On Tuesday, the Halos lost 4-2 to the Oakland A’s in Anaheim in opening a three-game series at the Big A.

Shohei Ohtani’s two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning wasn’t nearly enough. That was one of only four hits the Angels garnered. The loss put the team at 29-32, good for fourth place in the American League West.

Griffin Canning (2-2) took the loss, yielding seven hits and four runs over six innings.

The Angels and A’s will be back in action today (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. with Felix Pena (3-1) getting the start for the home team.
