Police are searching for a car and a suspect in connection with the death of an 89-year-old Asian man who was struck by an automobile in the predawn hours of Sunday while walking along a street in Garden Grove.

According to Master Officer Paul Ashby of the GGPD, the incident took place just before 6 a.m. at Dale Street and Stanford Avenue. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Fire Authority paramedics.

The vehicle involved left the scene northbound on Dale, with the driver allegedly failing to stop and render aid to the man. The car was described as a white sedan – possibly a BMW with a sunroof. It’s believed to have suffered heavy front-end damage.

Nearby surveillance video is being studied and fresh vehicle debris at the crash is from BMW-manufactured parts.
