An off-duty Cypress police officer was arrested early Friday morning by Garden Grove police on sexual assault charges.

According to Sgt. Mario Martinez of the GGPD, the suspect – a resident of Garden Grove – has been booked into Orange County Jail for an incident reported at 3:42 a.m.

GGPD officers responded to a call by a person alleging a sexual assault. The victim told police of meeting the suspect at a nearby bar and later driving with him to his home in the 5500 block of Ludlow Avenue in Garden Grove.

It’s there where the alleged assault took place.

The victim was able to leave and called police. Officers arriving at the home were initially unable to get the suspect to open the door or answer telephone calls. After some negotiation, he came out and was taken into custody without incident.

Due to the nature of the crime, police are not releasing any details about the suspect or the victim. The investigation is continuing and information about the suspect will be released “at a later time.”
