Finley Elementary School in Westminster recently partnered with the Westminster Police Department in a “Bicycle Safety Rodeo” for third, fourth and fifth graders on Friday, Nov. 1.
The event featured a safety presentation and bike obstacle course. During an assembly, students were taught safe practices and bicycle safety laws while riding their bikes in the community.
The WSD is a K-8 school system serving most of Westminster and parts of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach and Midway City.
Help consolidate the plan
Feedback and input from members of the Huntington Beach community are being sought as a requirement for updating the city’s Consolidated Plan, as mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
A community meeting will be held at City Hall, 2000 Main St. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. in Room B-8 (lower level).
Get your Surf City style on
The Surf City Store annual holiday sale will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 5 in the lobby of the Huntington Beach City Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Apparel with the city logo will be available for purchase.
Give gifts to kids who need them
A program to provide gifts to needy children in Garden Grove is underway until Thursday, Dec. 12. It’s being conducted by the city’s Family Resource Centers. New board games and toys are being sought for 1,000 local kids.
Donations can be dropped off at:
- the recreation counter in City Hall, 11222 Acacia Parkway;
- Buena Clinton Youth and Family Center, 12661 Sunswept Ave.;
- Magnolia Park Family Resource Center, 11402 Magnolia St.
Gift cards and monetary donations are also accepted, as are tax-deductible.
