Cowboys rope the Rams’ playoff hopes

DAK PRESCOTT threw for two scores in the Dallas Cowboys’ 44-21 win over the Los Angeles Rams’ on Sunday (Flicker/Joe Glorioso).

The Los Angeles Rams’ playoff hopes were thrown for a big loss Sunday in Texas, losing 44-21 to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

That defeat dropped the Rams’ record to 8-6, putting the prospect of post-season play near the vanishing point.

Jared Goff threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns, but much of that came in the fourth quarter after the Cowboys (7-7) had built a 31-7 lead. Todd Gurley was almost invisible, rushing for just 20 yards on 11 carries. He did score one TD.

By contrast, Dallas QB Dak Prescott completed 15 passes in 23 attempts for two scores and 212 yards, but was assisted by runners Ezekiel Ellison (117 yards, two touchdowns) and Tony Pollard (131 yards, one score).

The Rams will next face the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 21 on the road, and then come home on Dec. 29 to host the Arizona Cardinals at the Coliseum.
