Fleeing driver of stolen car is sought

POLICE are searching for a male suspect who allegedly stole a car and led police on a chase through Anaheim and Garden Grove Thursday morning (Shutterstock).

A search continues for a suspect who drove a stolen vehicle in Garden Grove and Anaheim and who eluded pursuit by law enforcement officers.

According to Sgt. Nick Jensen of the GGPD, the incident took place Thursday (today) morning around 9:48 a.m. Garden Grove police sought to make a traffic stop on the reported stolen vehicle, and the driver turned westbound on Chapman Avenue and then north on Dale Street.

The vehicle crashed into a pole on Dale, north of Ball Road. The driver then fled on foot into an adjacent residential area. Officers from the GGPD, Anaheim Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department set up a perimeter but were unable to locate the suspect, who is described as a male Hispanic wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray shorts and a black baseball cap.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information about a possible suspect is asked to call the GGPD’s Auto Theft Investigations at (714) 741-5800.
