Automobile vs. bike fatal is investigated

A 35-YEAR-old Minnesota man died after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Huntington Beach (Shutterstock).

An investigation into a traffic accident that took the life of a 35-year-old bicyclist from Minnesota is underway by the Huntington Beach Police Department.

According to Motor Sgt. Joshua Page, the incident was on Sunday, Jan. 19 and the victim, after being hospitalized at UCI Medical Center in Orange, died from his injuries on Thursday, Jan. 23.

The accident took place at about 11:55 p.m. in the area of Beach Boulevard and Indianapolis Avenue between a 2016 Honda Civic and the cyclist. The cyclist was struck by a 2016 Honda Civic driven by a 64-year-old Huntington Beach man. The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Sgt. Page.
