Orangewood goes for gold Saturday

ORANGEWOOD will play Fairmont Prep Saturday for a girls’ CIF-SS title and trophy (Shutterstock).

Orangewood Academy’s girls’ basketball team will be going for another CIF-SS crown as it meets league rival Fairmont Prep of Anaheim Saturday at Godinez High in the Division 2AA game at 8 p.m.

The Spartans (25-6) and the Huskies (25-6) are rivals in the San Joaquin League. This season, they finished in a tie (7-1) in the SJL, with each team winning one game. OA won the first one, 50-34, but was edged in the second, 52-50.

National rankings put Orangewood at 39th and Fairmont at 123rd.

Godinez is located at 3002 Centennial Rd. in Santa Ana. Ticket prices are $15 general admission but $5 for high school students with current identification. Children (5 to 13 years) are $5. Parking is free.
