More glory for Orangewood hoops

The accolades are continuing for the Orangewood Academy of Garden Grove’s girls’ basketball team.

On Monday, the all-CIF Southern Section basketball teams were announced and OA took top honors in its division.

In Division 2AA, senior Sydney Gandy was named Player of the Year, and Leslie Aragon was chosen as Coach of the Year. Also named to the team was senior Elodie Lalotte.

The Spartans won the San Joaquin League crown, then went on to capture the Division 2AA title and advanced to the second round of the CIF State Regionals before losing to Cathedral Catholic 63-47.

Orangewood concluded the season with a 27-7 record and was ranked 16th in the state and 55th in the nation.

In boys’ basketball, no team in The Tribune’s coverage area was honored, but five from other areas elsewhere in Orange County were selected.
