For six days in a row, the count of new confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County exceeded 1,000. Saturday’s report from the Orange County Health Care Agency showed 1,251 “positive” cases.
That brings the cumulative count to 23,901, of which 9,982 are considered to be recovered.
Nine deaths were reported, bringing that total to 421.
The OCHCA also reports that 671 people are hospitalized with the COVID-19 infection, with 231 in intensive care.
The test positivity rate, a key indicator of what percentage of people tested are considered positive for the virus, is at 14.2 percent, down from Friday’s figure of 14.7. The “acceptable” threshold is 8 percent.
Today’s count by city shows the top five cities in number of cases. Deaths are in parentheses:
- Santa Ana: 4,456 (118).
- Anaheim: 4,167 (98).
- Garden Grove: 1,254 (13).
- Huntington Beach: 1,187 (42).
- Orange: 1,111 (16).
Also, Westminster has 458 cases and 12 deaths; Stanton has 268 cases and three deaths.
