New corona cases, deaths down

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County were reported at 767 on Wednesday. (Shutterstock).

New coronavirus cases reported Wednesday to the Orange County Health Care Authority totaled 767, a decline from Tuesday’s 990. Eight deaths were reported as well. That’s down from 20.

The new cumulative total of cases is 31,743; the new total of fatalities is at 521.

According to the report, 699 COVID-19 cases are now hospitalized, with 233 in intensive care units.

Wednesday’s positivity rate – the percentage of those tested who turn out “positive” for the virus – is at 12.9 percent, up from 12.4 percent. The three-day average hospitalization increase rate is at 1.3 percent.

The list of cities with the most cases follows. Deaths are marked with an asterisk.

  • Santa Ana: 5,958 (137).
  • Anaheim: 5,462 (127).
  • Garden Grove: 1,678 (18).
  • Huntington Beach: 1,515 (44).
  • Orange: 1,472 (18).

Westminster has 587 cases with 14 deaths; Stanton has 372 cases and four deaths.
