A brush fire burned approximately 62 acres in the Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach on Sunday.

The area affected was south of Warner Avenue and east of Pacific Coast Highway. Firefighters were able to stop the blaze – termed the Ocean Ridge fire – about 100 yards from the Brightwater neighborhood.

According to the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, the wetlands’ plant nursery was not affected by the flames, and seedlings will be available to replace the plants lost to the blaze.

The cause of the fire, reported in mid-afternoon Sunday, is not known, and there were no reported injuries.

  1. 7/27/20 can anyone explain how a vegetation fire across the road from a fire station can event get a foot hold in a highly trafficked area? For the burn to become 5 acres an hour after report Is silly now over 62 acres is a complete shame. What is wrong with hustling to get the job done?
