The number of new deaths is 32, compared to two on Wednesday.

Agency officials have stated that because of delays in reporting, there may be some lagging in the posting of daily numbers. Now, the cumulative total of cases in Orange County is 38,711, of which 28,109 are considered recovered. The total of deaths is 697. Five hundred and seventeen COVID-19 cases are in hospitals, with 171 in intensive care.

The test positivity score, however, is moving in the right direction. That indicator shows what portion of those tested for coronavirus actually have the infection. Thursday’s number is at 8 percent, which is the threshold set by the state.
