Motorcycle chase leads to jail

ANAHEIM police recovered a loaded handgun, meth and heroin after a chase (APD photo).

Some people just don’t get the message the first time.

On Saturday two suspects – one of whom was under “supervision” for a recent release from incarceration – were arrested by Anaheim police.

They are charged with stealing a motorcycle and leading police on a pursuit through Orange and Los Angeles counties. They were eventually arrested and officers recovered a loaded handgun, heroin and methamphetamine.

Look both ways before you cross

In an effort to reduce pedestrian traffic deaths, the Santa Ana Police Department last week conducted a safety operation, targeting motorists who fail to yield for people crossing Main Street on foot at the intersection of 15th Street, an unmarked crosswalk.

Officers issued 70 citations for vehicles failing to yield during the operation.

So far in 2020, Santa Ana has had 17 fatal traffic collisions, eight of which involved pedestrians. Police remind motorists that while pedestrians have a duty to wait until it’s safe to cross the street, once that duty has been met, pedestrians have the right of way.
