Three people were seriously injured in a two-car crash Friday afternoon in Santa Ana.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority – which provides fire and paramedic services to Santa Ana – the incident took place near the intersection of Dyer Road and Halladay Street around 3:30 p.m.
The collision resulted in a fire and a person trapped in car. The fire was extinguished and firefighters rescued the motorist by cutting the person from a damaged vehicle.
Three patients were taken to a local trauma center. The cause of the accident was not immediately revealed.
GG Park renovations on agenda
The awarding of a contract for improvements at the city’s largest park is on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove City Council.
Under consideration will be a contract with Land Forms Landscape Construction, Inc. worth $750,321 for work to be done at Garden Grove Park, 9301 Westminster Ave..
The work will include:
- demolition of the large picnic pavilion and three small picnic shelters
- construction of disabled-accessible sidewalks, slabs, new picnic pavilion, three new picnic shelters, benches, barbecue grills and electrical improvements to allow for additional security lighting.
The project is funded by federal Community Development Block Grants and citywide park fee funds. Estimated date of completion is June 2021.
Tuesday’s meeting will be held via webconference beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Woman killed; DUI arrest in SA crash
UPDATE: The suspect arrested in the incident Friday night in Santa Ana has been identified by police as Jesus Emmanuel Perez of Santa Ana. He was booked for felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

A traffic collision occurred Friday night in which a women passenger was killed when the vehicle in which she was riding smashed into a parked Santa Ana Police Department vehicle.
According to the SAPD, the incident took place around 10:35 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Lowell Street in Santa Ana. A vehicle travelling east crashed head-on into a police sport utility vehicle occupied by two officers.
The woman was taken to an area hospital where she died from her injuries. Her identity was not immediately available. The officers suffered some pain and were taken to an area hospital for examination. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving.
