Cases, deaths continue to spike

TWENTY-TWO deaths were reported from coronavirus in Orange County on Friday (Pexels).

Record highs, including deaths and total cases, were reported by the Orange County Health Care Agency on Friday.

New cases of COVID-19 infection reached 2,655 and deaths numbered 22. Hospitalizations from coronavirus hit 1,122, while patients in intensive care units because of the pandemic reached 265.

The ICU bed availability rate for the Southern California Region (which includes Orange County) dropped to an adjusted level of 6.2 percent and 15 percent unadjusted. Fifteen percent or more is the goal.

  • Santa Ana: 19,036 (339)
  • Anaheim: 16,366 (359)
  • Garden Grove: 5,822 (118)
  • Fullerton: 4,672 (119)
  • Orange: 4,637 (76)
  • Huntington Beach: 4,035 (93)

Westminster has 2,316 cases and 36 deaths. Stanton has 1,195 cases and 18 deaths.
