FIREFIGHTERS battle a blaze in the 10000 block of Russell Avenue in Garden Grove Friday evening (OCFA image).

A cooking accident is being blamed for a residential fire in Garden Grove Friday afternoon.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the blaze in the 10000 block of  Russell Avenue (east of Brookhurst Street, north of Trask Avenue) was reported at 4:52 p.m. A home and an attached residential care facility had “significant fire involvement,” reported the OCFA.

A burn patient was treated by paramedics and three adults were displaced. In addition to battling the blaze, firefighters had to deal with live power lines which had fallen onto the property.
