Some COVID numbers decline

Three major measurements of the coronavirus in Orange County declined in Thursday’s report by the county health agency.

New cases dropped sharply, down to 3,321 today from 3,847 on Wednesday. Deaths also showed a big change, declining to 16 from 31 the day before.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 were at 2,169 (compared to 2,180) and patients in intensive care units being treated for the virus remained at 544.

Public health officials, however, caution against reading too much into daily fluctuations in these numbers.

To date, there have been 202,753 cases in Orange County, of which 129,485 are considered recovered. Deaths now total 2,195.

Here is the list of OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 37,138 (415)
  • Anaheim: 34,261 (449)
  • Garden Grove: 12,956 (154)
  • Orange: 9,570 (107)
  • Fullerton: 9,005 (144).
  • Huntington Beach: 8,197 (118)

Westminster has had 5,562 cases and 70 deaths. Stanton has had 2,572 cases and 27 deaths.
