Some good news on COVID-19

ORANGE COUNTY had lower numbers of new cases, deaths, hospitalizations and ICU use related to the coronavirus pandemic in Saturday’s report (Shutterstock).

For the first time in several days, Saturday’s report on the coronavirus in Orange County showed all four major metrics trending in encouraging directions.

According to the OCHCA, the number of new cases, deaths, hospitalizations and intensive care units related to COVID-19 infections all pointed downwards.

New cases went to 1,279 on Saturday from 1,460 on Friday. Deaths declined to 43 from 107 the day before. Hospitalizations dropped from 1,521 to 1,442 and ICU use fell from 426 to 394.

To date, conformed coronavirus cases in Orange County are at 231,036, of which 173,862 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 3,018.

  • Santa Ana: 41,798 (532)
  • Anaheim: 38,612 (570)
  • Garden Grove: 14,993 (224)
  • Orange: 10,851 (150)
  • Fullerton: 10,324 (198)
  • Huntington Beach: 9,429 (148)

Westminster has 6,387 cases and 112 deaths. Stanton has 2,889 cases and 40 deaths.
