New cases, deaths, etc. declining

After a disappointing Sunday when half of the key indicators of the status of the coronavirus pointed upwards, Monday’s report from the Orange County Health Care Agency showed progress on all those fronts.

The OCHCA report revealed confirmed new cases declining from 1,187 on Sunday to 942 today. Deaths fell from 46 to 25. Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 infections went from 1,093 to 1,046. Coronavirus cases being treated in intensive care units were at 331, compared to 335.

The cumulative total of cases in the county is now at 239,206, of which 201,372 are considered recovered. The death total is at 3,383 and the test positivity rate remains at 12 percent.

  • Santa Ana: 43,047 (595)
  • Anaheim: 39,898 (621)
  • Garden Grove: 15,598 (262)
  • Orange: 11,251 (168)
  • Fullerton: 10,886 (223)
  • Huntington Beach: 9,813 (160)

Westminster has had 6,659 cases and 134 deaths. Stanton has had 2,999 cases and 43 deaths.
