The number of deaths in Orange County from the coronavirus crossed the 4,000 mark in Thursday’s report from the county health care agency, but some other metrics show a more promising picture.
Forty-seven deaths were reported by the OCHCA, pushing total to 4,013. However, confirmed new cases, hospitalizations due to COVID-19 infections and the use of intensive care units to treat coronavirus patients all showed declines or stayed the same.
New cases went were steady at 160 for Wednesday and Thursday. Hospitalizations dropped from 403 to 379 and ICU use from 107 to 97. The agency continues to point out that the count of deaths is somewhat irregular because of issues with the state reporting system.
To date cases are at 247,140 for the county, with 234,853 considered recovered.

Westminster has had 6,957 cases and 154 deaths. Stanton has had 3,122 cases and 47 deaths.
